1. Turns out, Canadian students don’t actually need to apply for a visa to study in the states. Sweet deal.

You should probably check on that again. And then ask that person’s supervisor. And then call America and ask them the same thing. And then call UCLA and ask them. Just to make sure.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned it is to trust no government type about anything bureaucratic – ever. They always have wrong, outdated, special exception only, second hand, third hand, quadrupled hand, erroneous, obsolete, etc. etc. etc. information.

You always always want to check and double check then check some more that what you’re being told is really really true and not just maybe was true at some point for some person but not for you true.

    Just sayin’.

Basically, how it actually works is that I’ll still be getting a student visa, it’s just that Canadians don’t need to go through the interview process – I just need to get a magical form from UCLA, which I’ve got.

And believe me, I checked it because I didn’t believe it, so then I checked it again and then I tried to make a visa appointment with the consulate anyhow, and they didn’t let me because I don’t need one.

    okay, you’re good to go.
