Except for . . . WHEN IT DOES. (ie: the majority of Winter, 2008 and also whenever my mom calls and asks about the weather, so that she can say “But I thought it never rained in Los Angeles?”)
Luckily, I have a raincoat that makes me look like a Russian spy.
Needs more head scarf.
Yeah, I’ll take liquid rain over the frozen kind we get here, thanks.
P.S. Extra thanks for plugging Quirkyalone – I’m getting on that train NOW. Or as soon as my local library contacts me to let me know it’s available.
I figured someone would make some comment about how I shouldn’t complain about a little rain.
Quirkyalone is wonderful. I hope you like.
I have a questions about Los Angeles (but it’s not rain-related). A couple of my friends are headed there in the near future and they’re wondering if they should rent a car, or if they can survive on transit. Are the terrible things people say about LA public transit really true?
Renting a car is a really good idea because the city is very car-centric. Having said this, it is possible to survive on public transit – I do. However, most of the buses don’t run very late, and some areas are pretty underserved, and riding the buses takes patience and often a lot of time. So it would depend on what they want to do and where they’re staying. Most touristy things are pretty easy to get to by bus, but it can take some time.
I’d be happy to answer questions about what buses to take to get places and stuff like that, if you want to give them my email address.
Thanks! I will do that.
