Read a chapter from this book I picked up called Undressing Cinema, which is very good and interesting, but I think I totally disagree with the author’s reading of Picnic at Hanging Rock, a film that I love, because she chooses to see it only as a depiction of girls rendered victim of the male gaze, and doesn’t really address how queerly erotic the movie is, and how could also be read as transgressive. But I will need to re-watch the movie so that I can come up with a more astute counter-argument.
