Ugh. I feel like not knowing Joy Division is almost worse, because you could probably find excuses for his not knowing Trotsky (like, um, idiocy?) but Joy Division? Does he know about this thing called “popular culture” or “the late twentieth century”?
Possible chink in the elitism armor: both those links point to Joy Division’s Wikipedia entry.
