Apparently.

1.  Apparently I have an idea for a dissertation topic!  Who knew?

2.  I am officially not Canadialand-bound this Christmas because instead my family is coming here.  And apparently we are going to Disneyland, possibly on Christmas day, because the park is, in fact open.  Which just sounds…magical beyond all sense.  Or something.

3.  Whoever put together the playlist that was on when I was at Hipster Coffee this afternoon is apparently someone I need to, like, make out with or something, because it was the perfect blend of Lou Reed, Tom Waits, Nico, and Nancy Sinatra.

4.  I have been doing so much of the worst kind of writing to have to do lately:  by which I mean, very short, very specific abstracts and statements of intent and things in which you have to justify your entire existence and ask for money and/or the opportunity to spend money and go to a conference and I hate it.  I want no more of this writing where the meaning of every “the,” “and,” and “it” must be considered, nevermind the meaning of the phrase “Beth Ditto and the vocality of abjection” which is a phrase I made up today and I couldn’t tell you what it actually means if my life depended on it.  Apparently my favourite kind of writing is when I just get to be decandently vague.

5.  Apparently I have started my other blog here.  It’s very new and under constructiony still – I promise it will get better as soon as I start my weekly FASHION FRIDAYS OMG (!!!) posts, wherein I take a reprieve from bitching about music and instead talk about clothes.

6.  Saturday I am doing something that is apparently quite mad – I am taking the bus to dowtown and then walking to the beach.  We’re walking all of Wilshire Boulevard, from One Wilshire (the building that houses, like, the internet) to the ocean in Santa Monica.  Feel free to place bets on whether or not I make it past Fairfax.

Luckily, the ocean is labeled in Santa Monica – in case you are too delirious after your journey to find it.

  2. Leith says:

I will miss you madly at Christmas!! But I am actually really really glad to hear that you will be in California, because I’m not going to be in Bruce County either, so you have just done me the favour of eliminating the primary reason that I would want to go to Bruce County anyway. Cheers!

  3. Amy says:

What shoes will you wear on your walk? Your choice in footwear is important on a walk like that.

  4. Amy R says:

Sorry, above is me. I guess I should really differentiate.

Ah yes! Thank goodness for such useful signage.

Leith, I will also miss you madly at Christmas, and in general, actually. But I think that you probably share in my amusement at picturing my particular family at Disneyland.

My shoe plan is that I’ll wear my comfy sneakers with good socks and bring along my comfiest, oldest pair of birkenstocks as a backup in case it gets too hot. No fluevogs.
